Overview

Active transportation refers to non-motorized travel modes including walking, bicycling, and taking transit. Transit is included because most trips begin and end with a walk or bike ride to get to or from the transit trip. MRMPO’s Active Transportation Committee (ATC) provides a forum for promoting the active transportation goal of the MTP as well as MRMPO’s responsibility to undertake and facilitate multimodal planning in the region.

The committee helps bring active transportation modes into the larger discussion of improving health, safety, mobility and access in the Albuquerque Metropolitan Planning Area and discusses and reviews MPO products and projects including but not limited to: safety planning and analysis; the long-range transportation plan; the Long Range Bicycle System; micromobility; and more.

Committee Members

The group consists of bicycle and pedestrian planning professionals from MRMPO member agencies, public health professionals, as well as bicycle and/or pedestrian advocates from around the region.
