Job Opening: Transportation Planner

Job opportunity

The Mid-Region Council of Governments (MRCOG) Metropolitan Planning Organization division (MRMPO) is looking for an energetic and driven individual to join its team as an entry level, full-time Transportation Planner. This position will support the short and long-range metropolitan transportation planning process in central New Mexico.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Written reports, quantitative and qualitative analyses, outreach and education, and attending public meetings. Specific duties will include assisting with the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) database management, project monitoring and tracking, project data entry and analysis. This position will assist with project prioritization, multimodal systems evaluation, programming of project funding, performance analysis and other duties to assist MRCOG staff as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in geography, planning, civil engineering, or a related field. Effective interpersonal communication skills essential as the position will involve extensive coordination with internal staff, local and tribal agencies and member governments, with occasional public speaking and presentations. GIS skills and knowledge of federal transportation policies are preferred.
