The Mid-Region Council of Governments / Rio Metro Regional Transit District seek a full time Dispatcher/ Transit Operator for its Rio Rancho office.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: perform radio dispatching and scheduling for Rio Metro demand response services; accept trip reservations; provide safe and efficient and on-time service. Maintain up to date passenger records in a scheduling database. When working as transit operator (extra board) duties include but are not limited to: operate public transit buses, collect fares, transport passengers, secure wheelchairs of passengers with disabilities and perform pre-trip inspection of the bus and equipment. Successful candidates will provide service in a courteous, safe and timely manner, while conforming to all applicable state and federal laws as they relate to passenger bus transportation. Candidates must be able to exercise sound judgment in stressful situations.
Qualifications include: High School Diploma or GED and one (1) year experience in dispatching or two-way radio communications (desired). Experience with route scheduling software desirable. Strong computer and verbal skills are necessary. Must have knowledge of office administrative procedures and operation of standard office equipment. No DWI convictions, and no moving violations within last 24-months. Valid NM CDL, Class A or B driver’s license with passenger endorsement. Certifications in Defensive Driving, CPR, and First Aid highly desirable. Dispatch/Transit Operator positions are considered safety sensitive under Federal Transit Administration and are subject to drug and alcohol regulations including random drug and alcohol testing.
