Funding Application Forms

First, complete the project feasibility form (PFF) and email it to Maida Rubin. From here MRCOG staff will organize the PFF meeting with the local government application, MRCOG, and NMDOT. Once NMDOT signs off on the PFF, the local government applicant can complete the Project Identification Form (PIF).

Funding Sources

New Mexico Highway Safety Improvement Program (NM HSIP)

The mission of the New Mexico Highway Safety Improvement Program (NM HSIP) is to reduce traffic crashes causing fatalities and serious injuries. The NM HSIP program moved under NMDOT’s Office of Planning. There are currently no calls for projects under this program. As information is received, it will be posted on the MRCOG website.

Transportation Alternative Program (TAP) Funding and Recreational Trails Program (RTP) Funding

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) announced the opening of the call for projects for Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) and Recreational Trails Program (RTP) funding in Federal fiscal years (FFY) 2018 and 2019. The new, combined guide for both TAP and RTP - called the Active Transportation and Recreational Programs Guide (the “Guide”) - is intended to be a user-focused resource for potential applicants, MPOs and RTPOs, and other stakeholders in identifying and applying for the appropriate funding source based on the specific project type.

Application Submission & Deadline

All applications will be submitted to NMDOT via the MPOs and RTPOs according to the process outlined in the Guide. MPOs and RTPOs must set their own specific deadlines according to the funding cycle timeline in section 5A of the Guide in order to allow MPO/RTPO planners enough time to vet applications for eligibility and completeness before submitting them to NMDOT. MRRTPO is currently working on the call for projects. Information about calls for projects will be posted on the MRCOG website.

The deadline for MPOs and RTPOs to submit complete applications to NMDOT is close-of-business on November 30, 2018. This is a hard deadline and will be adhered to without exception. Closer to the application deadline, NMDOT will provide information to the MPO/RTPO planners on how to upload applications to NMDOT’s FTP site.
